European Cooperation for the Growth of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises

In the past ten years, the European Commission turned its attention to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). In accordance with the objectives of the Commission, the project named Internationalization Consulting (INCO) unites management schools, e-learning and consulting companies from seven countries. The aim of the cooperation is to provide training for the consultants of the future; a curriculum, which is able to be implemented in any EU-country for its unified character. It can be adjoined to the most widespread management training courses. Its usability is to be ensured by its blended nature, to be precise that it exhibits the advantages of both the traditional and electronic training materials and thus it provides an excellent opportunity to be adjusted to the local needs and specialities.

INCO Survey
The consortium developed two questionnaires, one for SMEs and one for management consultants. Through the use of a special platform an easy execution of the survey and quick analysis of the results was ensured. The background of the survey was to get more information from SMEs and management consultants about their requirements with regards to the newly designed training ‘Internationalization Consulting’. The consortium identified where the target groups need support in their international activities, entering new markets or increasing their activities in foreign markets. In addition the results of the survey are used to identify and develop the content of the INCO curriculum as well as to determine the main focus of the training.

Course Programme
“Internationalization Consulting”

The INCO course programme is a vocational training programme designed to teach the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for acting in or consulting for internationalization processes. The course programme, which is held completely in English with participants from all over Europe, emphasizes the importance of the internationalization process for SMEs. The target groups are consultants, employees and graduates who wish to enter into this dynamic and exciting field.

The duration of the full course programme is approximately 6 months including two blocks of presence learning, self study, as well as e-learning parts. This fully integrated blended learning approach ensures a high degree of training effectiveness and participantís satisfaction. The course was designed collaboratively by universities, vocational training providers, e-learning specialists, and consulting companies. The contents were selected, based on the results of a profound Europe wide survey conducted among consultants and SMEs to obtain inside information about the requirements of today’s competitive markets.
